Commitment to our communities is a vital part of Select Group’s corporate initiative.

As a corporate citizen, Select Group participates in various programs that seek to provide opportunities for civic, economic, and social health. Participation takes various forms and includes initiative such as gifts, grants, sponsorships, in-kind donations, and volunteerism.

Select Group recognizes the importance of contributing to the society, therefore Corporate Social Responsibility has always and will continue to be part of the way in which we do business. We recognize our wider responsibilities to a broad range of stakeholders; including customers, employees, business partners and community groups.

The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund

A971 CAFE, a joint venture between Select Group and Cafe Company of Japan, celebrated its first anniversary on 18th December 2009. To commemorate the occasion A971 CAFE collaborated with Singapore River Cruise for “A Night of Romance” – All proceeds from the night were donated to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.

Guests got to enjoy free flow of food, drinks and a cruise down the Singapore River at $40 nett per person. All together we sold 180 tickets, raising more than $7,000 for children from low-income families.
Kreta Ayer - Kim Seng Citizen's Consulative Committee
2010

Select Group collaborated with Kreta Ayer – Kim Seng Citizens’ Consulative Committee for the second year to sponsor a mass reunion dinner for about 1,000 under privileged and lonely elderly on 7th February 2010, at Singapore Flyer’s F1 Race Track.

Guests were first treated to a ride on the Singapore Flyer then a sumptuous eight-course dinner at the F1 Race Track by Select Group. 228 staff volunteers clocked in 1,988 hours to put together 1,800 kilogrammes of raw ingredients for the big feast.

Kreta Ayer – Kim Seng Citizens’ Consulative Committee
2009

On 24th January 2009, Select Group collaborated with Kreta Ayer – Kim Seng Citizens’ Consulative Committee to sponsor a mass reunion dinner for about 1,000 people, comprising the under privileged, lonely elderly as well as new citizens.

Guests were treated to a sumptuous eight-course Chinese dinner by Select Group; to prepare for the mass reunion feast, Select Group had involved a total of 128 staff, 628 man hours and about 1,800 kilograms of raw ingredients to cook 8 auspicious Chinese New Year dishes.

Kreta Ayer Senior Activity Centre

Since 1997, Select Group has played an active role in 3 Kreta Ayer Senior Activity Centre, providing daily packet lunch to close to 100 needy elderly and those on Public Assistance Scheme.

Menu includes a wide spread of nutritional and quality food that comprises of 2 meat and 1 vegetable, where menu varies on a monthly basis.
Club Rainbow (Singapore) – For Camp Rainbow

Annually, Select Group sponsors Camp Rainbow; a medically supervised, stay-in adventure camp for chronically and terminally ill children between 5 and 15 years old, organized by Club Rainbow (Singapore).

The group has been providing packet lunch for more than 200 camp participants and volunteers, for their annual event.
North West CDC

Lerk Thai Restaurant Pte Ltd (a subsidiary of Select Group Limited), collaborated with North West Community Development Council (CDC) on a Hearts of Gold @ North West Campaign.

During the campaign period from 1 May to 31 July 2008, for every plate of pineapple rice sold, Lerk Thai donated $1 to the North West District’s Food Ration Program. North West CDC will be matching the donation dollar for dollar. The target is to raise a combined amount of $30,000 at the end of this 3-month campaign.

Assisi Hospice

Select Group has always been a great supporter of many charitable events; one of them is the Assisi Hospice Charity Fun Day, in May 2008. Select Group sponsored a Laksa Booth, providing more than 400 bowls of our signature dish.

Select Group together with many other sponsors, helped to raise over $550,000 for the hospice to expand its core services of in-patient care, home care and day care.
Yellow Ribbon Project

The Yellow Ribbon Project seeks to engage the community in giving ex-offenders a second chance in life, and hopes to inspire a ripple effect of concerted community action to support ex-offenders and their families.

The Management of Select Group believes that everyone deserves a second chance; therefore we have been actively supporting the project, by re-employing ex-offenders to work with us.
